Who runs this site
ishigaki.info is run by Rainer Lang as an independent, unofficial guide. Questions about this policy or your data: info@ishigaki.info.
Visiting the site
- Hosting: the site runs on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and block attacks, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. Cloudflare keeps request logs for three days so errors can be found.
- Visitor statistics: Cloudflare Web Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics count page views, referrers, countries and devices. Neither sets cookies on this site or builds a profile of you. Ahrefs counts a visitor for one day with a hashed IP address that it does not keep.
- Partner links: links to tour and booking sites go through an ishigaki.info /go/ address that counts the click (link name, page, where on the page, country). Counts are kept for three months and hold no personal data. Nothing about you is passed on. What the partner site collects after you arrive is covered by its own privacy policy.
- Your browser: the site stores nothing in your browser. The planner puts your choice in the page address so you can share or bookmark it.
Ferry alerts by email
If you ask for a ferry alert, the site stores your email address, one route and one travel date. The first email asks you to confirm; nothing else is sent until you do. The record is used only for that alert, is never shared or sold, and deletes itself three days after the travel date. An unconfirmed request and a hashed duplicate check expire at the same time. Every alert email has a stop link. Emails are sent through Resend↗.
Data API, MCP server and AI assistants
The data API at /api/ and the MCP server at https://ishigaki.info/mcp answer questions about ferries, islands and the best time to visit. They need no sign-in and ask for no personal data: a request carries only a route, an island, a month, a time of day or similar trip details. If you use ishigaki.info through ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant, the assistant sends only those trip details to the server, never your conversation, name or account. Cloudflare keeps a log of each request for three days so errors can be found. The server reads the user agent only to tag links as coming from ChatGPT, Claude or another MCP client; it does not store it. Your conversation itself is governed by your assistant provider's privacy policy.
Who processes the data, and why
Data is processed by Cloudflare (hosting, logs, alert records) and Resend (alert emails), both US companies acting on the site's instructions. Alerts are sent because you asked for them; you withdraw that consent with the stop link. Hosting, logs and click counts serve the legitimate interest of running and improving a free guide.
How long data is kept
- Ferry alert record: until three days after the travel date.
- Request logs: three days.
- Partner-link click counts: three months, with no personal data.
- Visitor statistics: aggregated, no personal data kept.
Children
The site is not aimed at children and knowingly collects nothing from them.
Your rights
You can ask what data about you is held, and have it corrected or deleted, by writing to info@ishigaki.info. Replies come within 30 days. A ferry alert can also be stopped at any time with the link in its emails. If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
