What a cancellation means for your day

If your route is cancelled in the morning it usually stays cancelled; a route marked "some sailings cancelled" often means the afternoon boats are off because the wind is forecast to rise. When Uehara is cancelled both operators sail to Ohara instead and run a connecting bus; the Iriomote ferry overview explains the two ports. Refund and rebooking rules, and which boats stop first: rough sea and typhoons.

Stuck on Ishigaki for the day? Ishigaki Island itself has Kabira Bay, the beaches and the north loop; a rental car makes the most of it.

When do the operators post the day's status?

In the morning, Japan time. Until then the box above says so and this page shows yesterday's record. Anei and YKF update their pages during the day when conditions change.

Which routes are cancelled first?

Hateruma, then Hatoma and Iriomote Uehara: both operators say these cross open sea. Taketomi, Kohama and Kuroshima run in more sheltered water and are the last to stop. Details and refund rules are on the rough sea and typhoons page.

How is the record made?

A reader fetches both operators' status pages every 20 minutes from 06:00 to 20:00 Japan time and stores, per route and operator, the worst and the latest reading of the day. A day shows as cancelled only when every operator that posted had the route fully cancelled. Readings started on 7 November 2026; there is no earlier data.

Is this official?

No. ishigaki.info is an unofficial guide. The operators' pages are the authority and the only place to confirm a sailing.
